Video Transcript: Sandy Neck Provisions

Hi, I’m Brendan, the manager of the West Barnstable Branch of The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod …

… and Marstons Mills …. and Marstons Mills, thank you very much.

You’re welcome.

I’m here with our business customer and recent 40 under 40 winner Meghan McLaughlin, owner of Sandy Neck Provisions.

We met about three years ago at the West Barnstable Branch when Megan was the office manager for a large Landscaping contractor here on the Cape. I’m really excited for you that you went out on your own.

Thank you.

What drove that decision for you to strike out on your own?

Goodness gracious. So, this has been an idea in the making for quite a few years. Now, every time my husband and I would drive out on Sandy Neck, we’d realized we had forgotten something. And every time my husband would say there should be a shop right here for all the stuff you forgot.

So, he started looking and this property opened up, and it’s like right at the mouth of Sandy Neck Beach Road. So, it was absolutely perfect.

And so I quit the Landscaping Company in April and here I am now.

Since you’ve been running this shop, what do you think has been the most forgotten or the most needed thing?

We sell a lot of ice, a lot of firewood, flip-flops like people lose flip-flops or like they walk in like “I forgot shoes.” Sweatshirts, we sell a ton of sweatshirts. Oh, and iced coffee! But that’s not forgotten that’s just that people have coffee.

We are very grateful that you chose to do your banking at The Coop.

It was obvious.

What made it obvious to you?

The Coop is our bank for PTA and for BVA and for the landscaping company. And I was in there like just about daily. You guys are phenomenal over there the WB Branch. They’re all my buddies. Yeah so it was obvious we were going with.

Thank you. Thank you very much.

Absolutely.

Tell us what you’re proud of.

Cool. All right, should we walk around?

The turtlebox speaker. The turtle box speaker is in the box right down here. What’s so cool about it … is it is marine grade waterproof. It lasts for 22 hours. It’s Bluetooth connected and once it’s fully charged, 22 hours and it can blast, too. It’s pretty awesome.

Another thing that I love, love, love, love, my ukuleles. Let’s see, I tune them daily. I haven’t done it yet today. All right, so they are waterproof, sand-proof ukuleles that are made for the beach, but they’re legit. They’re by Calla Music Company so they’re like actual ukuleles.

Another thing I’m super proud of is my air up stations. We have 10 air up stations. When you drive out on the beach, you need to let the air out of your tires. Then when you come back, you need to put air back in.

At Porta Potty 3, it’s like higher tide right now but at low tide the tide goes way out. That’s where the sandbar is. It’s gorgeous and that’s like we’ll bring Bachi we bring so many things you can go play them out on The Sandbar.

Yeah, while it’s low, yeah cause you just walk out.

That’s cool.

We bring cornhole. We’ve got like all the Waboba games.

Well, thank you very much for joining us, Meghan. You can visit her shop Sandy neck Provisions at 680 Route 6A in East Sandwich. And you can follow her on Instagram @sandyneckprovisions. I highly recommend it; she’s a great follow.

Thank you. Thanks again.
