We are shining a spotlight on some of our local small business clients. Today, we’re talking to Kelly O’Connell, co-owner and general manager, of Lighthouse Keeper’s Pantry in Yarmouth Port.
What is your business?
Lighthouse Keeper’s Pantry is a café and gourmet food business operating out of Yarmouth Port in the heart of the captains’ mile. Open year-round daily, we offer coffee, baked goods, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, salads and ice cream as well as gift and gourmet foods, including our own extensive line of jam, hot sauces, condiments, pickles, spice blends and Bloody Mary mix. Our recipes are inspired by the life of a lighthouse keeper on Sandy Neck Beach.
When did your business open?
Lighthouse Keeper’s opened in September 2021.
What’s the most challenging part about running your business?
The most challenging part of running our business is keeping up with the demand of our products.
One piece of advice I’d give to someone starting a business …
Some advice for those starting their own business would be to take action, big or small every day to move your ideas forward.
Do you have community partnerships or ways you give back?
We give back to our community through charitable donations to local organizations, such as the United Way, Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, Center of Coastal Studies, Fishermen’s Alliance and act as a pickup location for the Chatham Harvesters local fish share program.
What is a fun fact about your business?
We are beekeepers and maintain 18 bee hives around the mid-Cape and keep chickens on our property to sell organic local eggs to our customers.
