Barbara Smith

Executive Vice President, Chief Banking and Strategy Officer

Barbara joined The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod as its Chief Banking and Strategy Officer. She has over 35+ years in banking, leading retail and business banking sales, service and delivery teams as well as a variety of other roles. Most recently, she served as Senior Vice President, Director of Key4Women at Cleveland-based KeyBank, leading the company’s national Key4Women initiative, providing insight, tools and support to female entrepreneurs and leaders.

In her role at The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod, she oversees the strategies associated with client journey, data and market share statistics, sales processes, products, and product innovation. She also oversees the Bank’s delivery strategy and channels – mobile and digital banking and design, branch strategy, customer assistance center and ATM/ITM networks. Barbara is looking forward to serving and supporting the financial health of our Cape customers and communities.

Barbara holds a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University, where she also serves as the President of the schools National Alumni Board of Directors and board member of The Kent State Foundation Board. She is a graduate of both the Ohio School of Banking and Consumer Banking Association (CBA) Executive Banking School.

Active in her community, she has held numerous volunteer board positions such as The Greater Cleveland YWCA, Women for Economic Leadership & Development (WELD), Greater Cleveland Better Business Bureau, American Heart Association, Solon Chamber of Commerce, Vice-Chair of the City of Solon Recreation Commission as well as previously being elected as Vice Mayor & Councilwomen for Ward 1 City of Solon, Ohio.
