Today, The Coop caught up with Peggy Garrahan and Jay Kavanaugh, owners of Cape Destinations.
What is your business? Cape Destinations, 182 Queen Anne Road in Harwich, is offers passenger transportation with more than 100 vehicles. Sedans for the corporate traveler, limos for the special night out, trolleys for weddings, and coaches for group outings. From one passenger to 500, we’ll get you there!
How and when did you get started? We got started in 1998 because we saw a need for safe, reliable transportation on Cape Cod.
What’s the most challenging part of running your business? Finding quality staffing. We need more than just a basic driver because our freight is the most precious cargo in the world – people.
What’s the biggest risk you took in your business? Financing the school bus division. Thankfully, The Cape Cod Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod was willing to take a risk and help us finance this division. Peter Smith and the Coop saw our vision and stood behind us.
Are there any community partnerships or initiatives you’d like people to know about? We believe in supporting the community that has supported us. We like to do it behind the scenes without fanfare.
Any fun facts about the business you’d like to share? In 2019, we traveled over 2 million miles, 9,785 charter trips, 2,762 airport transfers and over 300 weddings.
