Sara L Whiteley, Co-Owner/CFO of W. Vernon Whiteley, Inc. graduated from Tufts University in 1996 with a BS in Civil Engineering and worked for Haley & Aldrich in Cambridge, MA as a geotechnical engineer for projects such as the Central Artery “Big Dig” and numerous foundation restorations in the Back Bay area of Boston. In the summer of 1998, she returned to her hometown roots in Chatham, and partnered with her brother, Eric, to take over the ownership of W. Vernon Whiteley, Inc, a third generation family plumbing and heating business started by their grandfather in 1952. Sara oversees all aspects of daily business operations and also enjoys working with clients on their individual projects. Over the years, Sara and Eric have built up the company into a successful organization employing over 50 people while still maintaining a local, small business relationship with their customers and are committed to giving back to the community in which they live and work. Sara was appointed to The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod’s Board of Directors in 2014, and previously served as a Corporator since 2008. Sara serves on the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Committee, and on the Finance and Technology Committees. She is on the board of trustees at Westminster School in Simsbury, CT. When time allows, Sara appreciates living on Cape Cod, sailing and gardening and the flexibility to pursue her passion: world travel. She lives in Chatham with her daughter.
