The Coop partners with CDP to Offers Workshop Series for Growing Businesses

The Community Development Partnership (CDP), a non-profit organization creating opportunities for people to live, work, and thrive on the Lower Cape, is offering a workshop series for small business owners interested in growing, improving and/or refreshing their business. The classes in the workshop series will be held on three Thursdays, beginning on March 3rd and continuing on March 10th and 17th. Each class will run from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the CDP Conference Room at 3 Main Street Mercantile, Unit 8 in Eastham.

Jay Coburn, Executive Director of the CDP said, “We are so pleased to offer a workshop series aimed at supporting the growing small businesses in our region.” Coburn – himself a former small business owner – went on to say, “Taking the time to step away from your business and really taking a critical look at where you are and where you’re going is a valuable exercise and important for future success. Grow Smart will allow business owners to do just that.”

Working in a confidential setting, the interactive workshop will allow business owners to share their challenges and work out solutions to improve their operations. Topics include understanding the financial health of the business; making more money; managing employees and professional services; setting up systems; balancing home and work; keeping-up with & using technology; and staying inspired to grow.

Devon Ruesch,of Devon’s in Provincetown, participated in the workshop series last fall. He said, “The CDP Grow Smart workshop is a great tool for learning new skills and resources. It also provides networking opportunities with other small business owners, making one feel less alone with the obstacles of running a business in the challenging Cape Cod market. The speakers were super knowledgeable and engaging. I would highly recommend the class.”

The Grow Smart workshop is generously sponsored by The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod.
“We understand how important it is to support our small business here on the Cape,” said Joel Crowell, President and CEO of The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod. “By providing business loans and a full suite of business products and services, we strive every day to meet the needs of our friends and neighbors. Training is an important part of supporting our business community, and we’re happy to partner with The Community Development Partnership to provide these workshops.”

The workshop will be co-led by Glen Ohlund, the CDP’s Director of Economic Development and Rick Miller of Rick Miller Business Consulting. Guest Speakers include: Peter Karlson of NeuEon and Christine Cox, Interim CFO Services.
