HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS, March 1, 2010… Joel G. Crowell, President of Cape Cod Cooperative Bank, is proud to announce that the Bank has been recognized for its contributions to the community at the American Bankers Association National Conference (ABA) for Community Bankers on February 23, 2010. Cape Cod Cooperative Bank was awarded a Certificate of Recognition for a successful continuing campaign by the Bank’s employees to raise money for local charities.
Since January 2009, Bank employees have personally contributed $4,446 to help more than a dozen different local causes by making a donation to wear denim to work on predetermined “Jeans Days” (#CharityJeansDay). The award was given to the entire Cape Cod Cooperative Bank team for the positive impact the program has had on the community.
“Cape Cod Cooperative Bank and its employees have distinguished themselves for their longstanding commitment of giving back to this community,” said Mr. Crowell. “We are honored to receive recognition for their commitment, passion and leadership in the community.”
Through the ABA Community Bank Award Program, ABA honors institutions that have taken an innovative, creative and effective approach to making a difference in their community. The Bank’s program, coordinated by the CCCB Employee Involvement Committee, allows employee to wear denim to work on specific dates for a monetary contribution. The funds are collected in advance and forwarded to the special cause. A calendar for ‘Jeans Days’ for the year was created after a questionnaire went out to the employees asking everyone for input on their favorite charities or causes. The Bank has continued the popular program to focus on even more local charities. Awareness for the cause is increased and some customers have even chipped in to help the cause being promoted that day by the Bank.
Cape Cod Cooperative Bank employees are always looking for ways to support the community in which they live and work. They are active members within many of the charities and causes supporting their neighbors across the Cape. The Banks’ corporate policy is to support the community and encourage every employee to do so in their own way as well. This fun program allows employees to go even further in supporting the community they serve.
