Help for Mortgage Customers

Since the State of Emergency, the Coop has taken immediate action to help mortgage customers whose income has been negatively impacted by COVID 19 events. We are working with hundreds of Cape Cod homeowners to offer mortgage payment relief options that will reduce the burden and stress surrounding making housing payments. For any mortgage customer who has been negatively impacted by COVID-19, we encourage them to reach out to us to understand their options.

How do I apply for assistance?

Customers may reach out to one of our Loan Servicing representatives at 508.568.3400, ext. 3556, or LoanServices@mycapecodbank.com. Customers will need to explain …

  1. Specifically why they are not able to make timely payments due to financial hardship resulting from the effects of COVID-19.
  2. How long they believe their hardship situation will last.

What happens after I contact The Coop?

After letting us know about your situation, and speaking with our team about which option is best for you, our Loan Servicing team will prepare the necessary documents and send them to you via the postal service. Once you have received them, please sign the agreement and return to us using one of the methods highlighted in the letter.

If I cannot make my payments, will my home be foreclosed?

The Coop will work with customers during these difficult times to help find the best payment options available. The Bank is postponing foreclosures currently and following federal regulations and state guidance. The Coop understands that each customer’s situation is unique. Please contact us for more information.

I’m having trouble making my mortgage payment, what should I do?

We understand that many of our mortgage customers are facing financial challenges related to the Coronavirus pandemic and are worried about what lies ahead. Every customer’s situation is different, and we encourage you to contact us about your mortgage concerns. We’re here to help you develop a plan that works best for you to keep you safe at home.

What will happen if I make a late payment, or miss a payment?

To work with our customers who may have difficulties meeting their current obligations, we will not be reporting late or missed payments to the credit bureaus during this time. If you have been negatively impacted by COVID-19, we encourage you to contact us regarding your situation. We’re here to help.

What kind of mortgage relief plans are available?

We are working with hundreds of Cape Cod homeowners to offer mortgage payment relief options that will reduce the burden and stress surrounding making housing payments. Mortgage assistance options include mortgage payment forbearance plans, which allow you to defer a portion or all of your mortgage payment for a period of time, which is then collected at a later date.  These options are not loan forgiveness. We will work with you to identify which terms works best for you.
